Unlock Serpent Breathing

Find Obari on the cliff above the starting fields, reach level 25, and bring the materials named in his current dialogue. The September 2026 build uses five Beast Cores, but the Demon Horn amount has changed between versions. Visit Obari before farming and use the total shown in your server.

Obari is the closest breathing trainer to spawn. Leave the beginner village toward the bear quest, follow the cliffside path, and climb the stepped rocks and trees. Near the top, pull the camera back and look for the alcove against the mountain wall.

Farm only what Obari requests

Hunt the appropriate beast-type demons around Mistfall for Beast Cores. Demon caves and night enemies drop Demon Horns, while High Demons can award more per kill. Carry both materials in your inventory when you return.

After Obari accepts you, complete the marked exercises, including meditation, push-ups, boulder splitting, and aim training. The Serpent Trainee is the final test. Block its winding attacks instead of chasing their visual trail. Win the duel, open the Skill Tree, and buy your first move.

Serpent moves and progression

Serpent uses curved attacks, mobility, poison-themed pressure, and a heavy finisher.

MoveRole
Serpent SlashFirst practical attack and mastery starter
Venom FangsPressure and combo damage
Coil ChokeGuard pressure and block breaking
Twin-Headed ReptileMid-chain offense
Slithering SerpentUltimate finisher at a later mastery gate

Use Serpent Slash while clearing normal enemies to build mastery. Later nodes need mastery and skill points, so keep points available for the new branch. The current tree displays each exact threshold.

An Obari-themed boss can drop the Serpent Katana and Haori. The ultimate and clan abilities have separate progression paths. None of those extras is required to begin using the base style, so make the basic kit functional before chasing a complete themed outfit.

PvP combo decisions

Serpent works well against predictable defense. Mobile and delayed curved attacks create pressure, while Coil Choke punishes someone who refuses to release block. Begin with a safe test and choose the extension only after seeing the result.

On hit, add M1s and Venom Fangs. On block, stop, reposition, and threaten Coil Choke with a different delay. If the opponent dodges early, aim your mobile move at the landing point. Save Slithering Serpent for the end of a confirmed route.

Knock-ups and repositioning can also move combat above the normal M1 line. Keep the target centered with the camera instead of expecting the visual effect to track for you.

PvE and progression

Serpent makes a useful first style because Obari is nearby and the kit clears regular enemies without a difficult trip through Iceveil. Barrages maintain damage, and mobility shortens the walk between quest targets.

Group enemies before using a knock-up or block break so you do not scatter the pack. Against a boss, wait for recovery and use one short string. Repeated hits matter only if you survive to repeat the rotation.

Avoid using Part 1 requirements

Project Slayers Part 1 has a different map, trainer path, skill tree, and material balance. If two posted totals disagree, Obari’s dialogue settles the question for your current server. Note both totals before leaving the trainer.

Learn the vertical combo route

Confirm a grounded hit before launching the target, then adjust your camera before the next technique. Stop if the enemy leaves the center of the screen. A barrage fired in the wrong direction only creates a punish window.

Practice beside a wall first. The wall reduces sideways drift and makes each landing point easier to learn. Move into an open area once the route connects consistently. The goal is control, not the longest possible combo.

Show a normal attack before using Coil Choke. If the defender keeps blocking, use the guard threat. If they dodge because they expect it, wait and catch the landing. Throwing a block break at a moving target wastes it.

Farm Serpent gear efficiently

Treat the Serpent Katana and Haori as later upgrades, not trainer requirements. Set a nearby spawn and use Serpent attacks in every boss clear so a failed item roll still adds mastery.

Farming goalProgress made without the drop
Serpent KatanaStyle mastery
Serpent HaoriBetter boss timing
Ultimate readinessSkill points and mastery thresholds
Clan themeSeparate spins, not base breathing progress

Matchup adjustments

Save movement for Thunder’s quick entry. Against Stone, avoid sending a predictable attack into armor or a counter. Move away from Sound’s placed projectiles before beginning a barrage. Serpent can adapt only if you do not spend every option in the first exchange.

In PvE, keep grouped enemies in front of you and finish low-health targets before another long sequence. Use Slithering Serpent only after confirming that the target cannot leave its route.

Upgrade priorities

Buy the core Serpent nodes before unrelated universal branches. Add enough health and stamina to survive a missed entry, then improve movement to support repositioning. A themed clan can wait until the basic build works.
