Pick a weapon you can obtain and finish

Slayers 2 weapons come from several different routes. Slayers can get Cutlass from the Starter Island boss, craft Shotgun through Blacksmith Togane, find Spear in Tier 2 raid chests, buy Gauntlet from the Black Market for 100,000 Cash, and open Tanto from Tier 3 raid chests. Demons have their own weapon track with Claws, Sickles, Blood Sickles, and the sun-protecting Bladed Wagasa.

Choose the strongest weapon your account can realistically obtain and master now. A Rare Cutlass with unlocked skills is more useful than a Legendary weapon locked behind a raid you cannot clear. Rarity describes availability, not how quickly the weapon will finish your current quests.

Updated for the September 2026 live build. Chest pools, prices, drop rates, and upgrade costs can change. Read the current boss reward, raid tier, or crafting menu before starting a long farm.

Check the raid location before farming. Starter Village gives Tier 1 rewards, materials, and cash, but it cannot drop Spear or Tanto. Butterfly Mansion is the Tier 2 Spear route. Snow Village is the Tier 3 Tanto route.

Some raid rewards enter your inventory as sealed caches. Open the cache after the run. A weapon not appearing on the floor does not mean the clear gave no reward.

Cutlass is the practical first upgrade

The Starter Island boss drops Cutlass, making it the first dedicated weapon most characters can farm sensibly. Double Cut is a compact two-hit swing. Quick Draw is a fast forward strike that closes a short gap.

That uncomplicated kit fits early progression well. Double Cut clears ordinary enemies without trapping you in a long animation, and Quick Draw reaches a target that stepped outside basic attack range. Combine the boss farm with surrounding quests instead of halting all progress to chase an endgame item.

Keep Cutlass until you can craft Shotgun, clear Butterfly Mansion consistently, or afford Gauntlet without emptying your account. Replacing it only because the label says Rare is not a useful upgrade rule.

Shotgun trades drop luck for crafting

Blacksmith Togane in Hidden Mist Village crafts Shotgun. His live crafting menu shows the materials you currently need. Those materials come from several activities, so collect them while questing, opening chests, and running other content rather than waiting for one boss to drop a finished gun.

Parts of the Shotgun skill animations include invulnerability frames. That does not make every shot safe. Learn exactly when the protected moment occurs, respond to an enemy’s committed action, and leave enough distance to recover after firing.

Shotgun is the most predictable Legendary route because every collected material moves you toward the craft. Players with poor chest luck but a stable farming loop have a clear goal they can measure.

Spear and Tanto need different raid tiers

Spear comes from Tier 2 Butterfly Mansion chests. Its longer strings and defensive timing work well when a boss gives short, repeatable openings. Confirm the first hit before extending. A long Spear sequence into a block gives the opponent an easy punish.

Tanto is deeper in progression because it drops from Tier 3 Snow Village chests. Fast startup and rapid slashes make it a strong secondary assassin weapon. Phantom Barrage throws the blade and follows with quick cuts. Spiral Fang is a steerable spinning charge. Tanto Descent opens with a thrown blade, then chains air dashes into a kick.

If you need…Prefer…Why
A reachable raid upgradeSpearTier 2 access comes before Snow Village’s Tier 3 farm
Very fast startupTantoIts attack chain begins quickly after confirmation
Longer pressure stringsSpearExtended combos reward controlled boss openings
A secondary assassin toolTantoThrows, steering, and air follow-ups fit that role

Do not queue Snow Village only because Legendary sounds stronger. Consistent Tier 2 clears advance the account faster than repeated Tier 3 failures.

Gauntlet is a cash purchase

The Black Market NPC sells Gauntlet for 100,000 Cash. Its red shockwaves cover a large area, which helps against groups and large targets such as Mother Bear. A mobile duelist can read that broad coverage more easily than Tanto’s quick startup, so Gauntlet is not automatically best in every matchup.

Protect money needed for trainers, travel, and essential gear before saving the full six-figure price. Once your normal route earns cash without starving other systems, Gauntlet becomes a dependable goal with no chest roll involved.

Demon weapons follow another progression track

Demons should not treat the Slayer table as their shopping list. Claws drop from the boss beside Mother Bear. Normal Sickles come from a boss around the middle-level route. Blood Sickles drop from Gutaro in the cave near the Boulder Split training ground. Fujiko in the Final Selection Plains area provides the Bladed Wagasa route.

Normal Sickles and Blood Sickles use the same skill set, with Blood Sickles carrying the higher rarity. Sickles also support the related Blood Demon Art, which makes them a strong damage route for Demons. Claws are a useful early reward from the Kaiden-side loop.

Bladed Wagasa also solves a faction problem because it grants sun immunity while equipped. Fujiko can take a long time to farm. Until it drops, use a Sun Hat or a working clan immunity option instead of treating Wagasa as mandatory for basic Demon progression.

Tier 2 weapon upgrades

The launch Demon progression route gives four requirements for a Tier 2 weapon upgrade: 500 Silk Thread, 500 Metal Scraps, 10 Mythic Refinement Ore, and a 90,000-point dungeon result. Silk and scraps come from chest farms. An NPC in the relevant village exchanges Mythic items for refinement ore.

These totals can change between versions. Open the current dungeon shop and check all four before selling Mythic gear. Hold any unique or build-critical item until you are sure the exchange cannot be reversed.

Equip the weapon before judging its skills

Putting a weapon in inventory is not enough. Equip it in the active slot and check the hotbar. Its abilities should replace the previous set, and the matching mastery panel should appear on the HUD.

If old skills remain:

  1. Open inventory and select the intended weapon.
  2. Make sure it is in the active slot, not storage or a vanity slot.
  3. Confirm that your faction can use it.
  4. Open the skill or mastery panel and bind purchased actions.
  5. Test one move on a safe enemy before entering a raid.

Build mastery during normal clears before comparing the weapon with an older favorite. A new item with only its base action will naturally feel weaker than a fully unlocked weapon.

A sensible upgrade order

Begin with Cutlass or the first reliable weapon for your faction. Use it to clear quests and build cash. Then choose one reachable branch: craft Shotgun, farm Tier 2 for Spear, or follow the appropriate faction boss route. Save Gauntlet and Tier 3 Tanto for the point where you can pay the price or clear the raid repeatedly.

Demons should obtain a functional early weapon, then match the next farm with their Blood Demon Art and daylight plan. Sickles advance damage. Bladed Wagasa handles travel utility. The right next item is whichever one removes the current bottleneck.
