Take the east route from Windy Peak
Start in Windy Peak, leave the beginner village to the east, and follow the stone paths across the grassy hills. Keep going until you reach a cliff marked by several large boulders. Drop into the estate grounds, pass the Insect Trainee, then look behind and above the main building. The trainer’s walkway sits under the purple trees.
The trainer does not wait at the front door, which makes the mansion easy to misread. Follow the cliff boulders to the main building, find the Insect Trainee, then look up through the purple trees instead of searching every roof.
This route reflects the September 2026 Slayers 2 world. The original Project Slayers uses a different map, even when a location shares the Butterfly Mansion name.
Prepare before making the trip
You can visit the estate at any level, but the Insect Breathing route begins at level 25. Unlocking Double Jump and Wall Climb makes the cliff and rooftop movement much easier. If you are traveling for a trainer quest, carry the materials requested in the current dialogue rather than assuming every Breathing Style costs the same amount.
| Preparation | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Book of Guidance complete | Unlocks the map and fast travel tools |
| Estate-side spawn set | Shortens the return after a fall or defeat |
| Level 25 | Opens Breathing trainer progression |
| Double Jump | Corrects missed ledges and roof approaches |
| Wall Climb | Makes the cliff route less punishing |
| Wen and materials reserved | Lets you begin training after finding the NPC |
Open the map before leaving Windy Peak and keep the recommended quest and shrine markers visible. The estate route is long enough that a wrong branch costs time, especially if you have not unlocked fast travel.
Follow the landmarks in order
1. Leave the beginner village to the east
Start from a known Windy Peak spawn rather than an unnamed field. Face east and take the stone path away from the starter NPC cluster. Stay on the main route while the village falls behind you.
2. Cross the grassy hills
Continue through the open grassland and watch for the terrain rising toward a cliff. Do not turn toward the deep snow region or climb the highest mountain route. Those branches lead toward other trainers.
3. Find the large boulders
Several large boulders mark the drop into the Butterfly Estate side. Slow down here and move the camera over the ledge before jumping. A controlled descent is safer than using every movement charge at once.
4. Enter the estate grounds
The mansion and wisteria-colored trees confirm that you have arrived. Find the Insect Trainee near the grounds, then use the main building as your final anchor.
5. Look up behind the main building
Move around the mansion and look up toward the rear walkway or roofline. The Insect trainer waits above ground level beneath the purple trees. If you circle only the courtyard, you can stand beside the correct building and still miss the NPC.
Learn the useful estate landmarks
| Landmark | What it tells you | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Large cliff boulders | You found the descent into the estate route | Drop carefully and preserve a movement charge |
| Main mansion | You reached the correct destination | Circle behind it and look upward |
| Purple or wisteria trees | You are near the trainer side | Search the elevated walkway |
| Insect Trainee | Training and final duel happen nearby | Talk to the trainer before fighting |
| Waterfall near the estate | Used by a later Slayer Progress task | Return after Final Selection |
You will return for later Breathing tasks, Slayer Progress, and the route toward Final Selection. Learn these landmarks on the first visit so the next trip is quick.
Find the Insect Breathing trainer
The Insect trainer, Shinora, stands on the elevated section behind the main building under the purple trees. Reach level 25, approach the NPC, and read the live requirement. Material costs can differ from the other Breathing trainers, so use Shinora’s dialogue rather than arriving with a guessed amount of Wen, Demon Horns, or Beast Cores.
After accepting the questline, expect training activities around the estate. The launch tasks include exercises such as meditation, cup training, push-ups, aim training, and boulder splitting, followed by a duel with the matching trainee. Follow the active quest marker rather than doing the exercises in a remembered order.
When the final task is complete:
- Open the menu with
M. - Select the Skill Tree.
- Find the Insect branch.
- Spend the required Skill Points on the available move.
- Equip and use the style to gain mastery.
Standing beside the trainer does not equip the style automatically.
Use the estate for other Breathing quests
The Butterfly Mansion training grounds are not exclusive to Insect Breathing. Some trainer questlines send you here for physical exercises even when the trainer lives elsewhere. Thunder training, for example, can route you through mansion activities before the final trainee fight.
Unlock the estate’s travel point on your first visit. If another trainer sends you back for meditation, cup training, push-ups, aim practice, or boulder splitting, fast travel removes the longest part of the job.
Continue toward Final Selection
The estate is also a useful anchor on the Slayer route toward Final Selection. From the Mistfall Harbor side, travel toward Butterfly Estate, continue south across the long bridge into the Final Selection Plains, then follow the route northeast toward the trial entrance.
Final Selection opens at level 45 on a timed cycle. Do not make the long trip only to discover that you are too early or the event just began. Check the live countdown, train several Breathing moves, bring recovery items, and set the closest safe spawn.
After passing, return to Butterfly Estate for Slayer Progress activities. Ren’s task involves recovering a Nichirin Blade near the waterfall; completing it opens the gourd shop used to raise Slayer Progress.
Fix common route problems
The mansion is not on my map
Finish the Book of Guidance in Windy Peak and enable area, quest, and shrine markers. A locked map is an early-quest problem, not proof that the estate is missing.
I reached the mansion but cannot find the trainer
Go behind the main building and look up. Shinora is on the elevated walkway under the purple trees, not in the center of the courtyard.
The trainer will not teach me
Reach level 25 and read the current requirement. Check Wen, Demon Horns, Beast Cores, or any trainer-specific prerequisite shown in the dialogue.
The quest sends me away from the estate
Follow the active marker. Breathing unlocks combine estate exercises with a matching trainee duel, and that final opponent can be outside the immediate courtyard.
I keep falling on the approach
Buy Double Jump and Wall Climb, then descend from the boulder-marked cliff in stages. Save the second jump for correction instead of using it immediately.
