Water Breathing requirements

Reach level 25 and bring 5,000 Wen plus 30 Demon Horns to Urokodaki. He is inside a hidden underwater room near Bamboo Grove. Pay him, complete all six training objectives, and defeat Water Trainee Sabito. Water will then appear in the Skill Tree.

AccessSwim through the concealed underwater tunnel

Set aside another 1,500 Wen only if you also want the Fancy Katana. A normal usable blade is enough for the unlock, so do not spend Urokodaki’s 5,000 Wen on an optional weapon.

Find Urokodaki’s underwater room

Go from Bamboo Grove toward the nearby pond and cliff. Find the small structure beside the water, then look beneath the surface for a dark opening. Dive through the hole and follow its tunnel until it rises into an air pocket. Urokodaki waits in the room beyond.

Begin with a full oxygen bar and swim straight through. Surface as soon as the tunnel opens. If you lose the entrance, bring the camera above water and line yourself up with the small island or wooden structure instead of searching the whole shoreline.

Farm horns and Wen together

The cave behind the waterfall near the bear area is a safe horn loop. Clear its subordinate demons, collect their drops, and repeat. Since the style needs 30 horns, gather them while leveling instead of leaving the full grind until level 25.

Complete nearby quests and sell spare loot for Wen. Once your balance reaches 5,000, stop buying extras. Water has two separate costs, and reaching the hidden room with only horns or only currency means another long trip.

Complete the six tasks

Water training mixes familiar minigames with an underwater objective.

TaskReliable method
MeditationPress when the moving indicator reaches the target zone
Cup trainingFollow the starting cup through the full shuffle
Push-upsMatch the timing circles instead of spamming
Aim trainingMove steadily between targets
Underwater RocksCollect five, surfacing between dives
Water Trainee SabitoBlock his string, then punish the recovery

Underwater Rocks is the dangerous part. Do not try to collect all five on one breath. Take one or two, surface until oxygen refills, and dive again. Finished objectives stay finished even if you fail another task.

Set a nearby spawn before fighting Sabito. Enter at full health, block his opening string, answer with a short M1 combo, and separate. Several safe punishes work better than trading full strings.

Confirm the unlock and build mastery

After Sabito falls, press M and open the Slayer side of the Skill Tree. Buy Water Surface Slash first. Later techniques need skill points and Water mastery, which rises as you use the style and finish enemies.

Water Wheel and Constant Flux arrive later. Read their current mastery labels in the tree after an update. Because resetting costs premium currency, buy nodes carefully and keep points for the branch you intend to play.

Practical combat loop

Water rewards disciplined sword play. Start with a low-commitment attack, confirm it, add one Water technique, then move before the enemy’s recovery ends. Its slower actions are easy to punish when thrown into neutral.

Group only the number of normal enemies your area attacks can control. Against a boss, wait out a large telegraphed move and strike when it ends. In PvP, vary the pause before your opener. If it is blocked, stop and change angles instead of repeating the same timing.

Spend the 5,000 Wen carefully

Keep trainer money separate from the rest of your budget. After reserving 5,000 Wen, put later income toward a katana, healing, travel, or other upgrades. Arriving short forces you to repeat the concealed swim.

Pair horn farming with quests that pay Wen. Kill demons, turn in local objectives, sell extra loot, and avoid premium resets until you have tested Water. A Kamado clan roll is not required; it is a separate passive and theme choice.

Water mastery practice

Start with one normal enemy and learn the reach of Water Surface Slash. Note where your character finishes. Add M1s before or after the move, then keep the route that leaves the target in front of you.

Move to small groups after the single-target route is stable. Pull enemies into one line instead of letting them surround you. If a move knocks the first enemy outside follow-up range, use it as an ender. Short, repeatable clears build mastery faster than repeated knockouts.

Prepare for Final Selection

Learning Water does not finish your Slayer build. Keep leveling, strengthen the branch, and learn the route through Butterfly Estate to Final Selection. Entering with only the first move makes each demon fight unnecessarily long.

Before leaving, check that you have several Water nodes, can block a normal enemy string, and can perform a short boss punish without emptying every cooldown. Health, stamina, movement passives, and a useful spawn point also make a failed attempt less expensive.

PvP against faster styles

Thunder and Insect punish Water players who start slow attacks in neutral. Hold your range, let the faster player commit, and answer during recovery. Make them prove that their entry is safe.

Stop when the first action is blocked. Walking out and returning with a different delay is safer than continuing into a guard punish. Water wins through repeated small decisions, not by forcing one long animation through every defense.
