Prepare before the gate opens
Reach level 45, unlock Double Jump and Wall Climb, pack healing, and train several Breathing moves before entering Final Selection. You can enter at 45, but level 60 gives a solo player much more room for mistakes. The event opens every two hours, so get inside the waiting gate before the countdown reaches zero.
The trial is one continuous quest chain. Stay after each objective, and remember that killing the final boss does not record the pass by itself. Finish every NPC step and report back to The Sisters at the end.
Checked against the September 2026 launch route. Use the current quest marker and NPC text if an objective changes.
Final Selection readiness checklist
| Check | Ready standard | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Character level | 45 minimum; 60 recommended solo | Later fights punish underleveled builds |
| Movement | Double Jump and Wall Climb unlocked | Required for the parkour and cliff routes |
| Breathing | Several moves with usable mastery | Gives safer damage and mobility options |
| Recovery | Healing or bandages available | The chain includes repeated fights |
| Party | Two or three players when possible | Makes the Hand Demon and adds easier |
| Time | Arrive before the two-hour countdown | Missing the opening means waiting for the next cycle |
Use the map to find the far-west trial gate beyond the Butterfly Estate route. Set a nearby spawn before the event. A short return after a failed run will save more time than a small damage upgrade.
Complete the quests in order
1. Speak to the Sisters
Talk to The Sisters at the entrance as soon as the event begins. They activate the chain. If nearby NPCs will not respond, return to the entrance and confirm this first conversation.
2. Gather Rem’s fruit
Rem asks for an Apple, Banana, and Grapes. All three are close to her in the opening forest. Search the ground near the trees and cliff edges, collect all three in one sweep, then return before fighting unnecessary Rogue Demons.
3. Clear the Demon objectives
The route sends you through ordinary Demon fights before the deeper trial steps. Pull one target away from a group, block its opening string, and use a Breathing move only after confirming the hit. Rogue Demons can keep following you, so avoid wasting health on endless side fights.
4. Recover the Nichirin Katana
Klien’s lost Nichirin Katana sits on the nearby cliffside. Climb beside him, take it from the rocks, and bring it back. If the next marker does not appear, check whether Klien still has a treatment or hand-in prompt.
5. Enter the underwater cave
Mizuto sends you into the pond. Dive to the cave entrance, defeat the Lost enemies inside, and collect the Submerged Key before surfacing. The key opens the parkour dungeon, so confirm it is in your quest state before leaving.
The Lost encounter can also drop the Shotgun Schematic. You do not need it to pass, so finish the objective and leave specialist loot farming until after the exam.
6. Beat the parkour dungeon
Use the Submerged Key, then pull levers to open each section. The parkour gives you limited lives, while checkpoints can restore a lost life. Slow down at moving platforms and spike traps. Double Jump has a recovery window, so do not spend it automatically on the first half of every gap.
A reliable parkour loop is:
- Stop at a safe tile and locate the next lever.
- Watch one full hazard cycle.
- Use a normal jump when it reaches; save Double Jump for correction.
- Touch the checkpoint before attempting the next hazard.
- Confirm the gate opened instead of rushing back through spikes.
7. Finish the timed and capture tasks
Lavato’s timed run uses four blue checkpoint flags across the mountain. Sprint directly between markers and ignore the Rogue Demon chasing you. Fighting it consumes the timer without advancing the objective.
For the later capture or rescue step, drag pursuing enemies away from the zone, disengage, then run back to finish the capture. Holding the circle while surrounded burns health for no benefit.
Beat the Hand Demon safely
Speak to Steve when you are ready; that conversation starts the final boss. Do not dump every move immediately. Watch the Hand Demon’s opening patterns, block or leave the large attacks, and punish the recovery with a short sequence.
The important mechanic is the add phase. Three Rogue Demons can spawn if the fight runs long, and the Hand Demon cannot be damaged while those adds remain. Switch targets immediately, clear them without standing between all three, then resume the boss.
| Situation | Correct response | Common failure |
|---|---|---|
| Boss begins a committed attack | Move out or defend, then punish | Starting a long combo into the wind-up |
| Rogue Demons appear | Clear all adds first | Continuing to hit an immune boss |
| Health drops | Create distance and recover | Healing directly in front of the boss |
| Teammate is targeted | Attack from a safe side | Stacking on the same spot |
| Boss is nearly defeated | Keep the same safe rhythm | Trading damage to finish faster |
Claim the completion rewards
Open any available post-boss chests before leaving, then return to The Sisters. The completion conversation grants the first Slayer rank, Slayer Uniform, Kasugai Crow, and the run’s guaranteed rewards. Your pass is confirmed when the rank and items update.
If the boss is dead but you still have no rank or Crow, follow the active marker and check each NPC hand-in, especially The Sisters. The run is still waiting on a turn-in.
Afterward, equip the Kasugai Crow from your inventory. Its bounty quests can be stacked with your normal leveling route. Visit the Butterfly Estate when you are ready to work on Slayer Progress, and keep any Crude Iron Ingot for the appropriate blacksmith route instead of spending blindly.
Fix the most common failures
- NPCs do not respond: return to The Sisters or the previous quest giver.
- The dungeon stays locked: confirm you picked up the Submerged Key.
- Parkour lives disappear quickly: wait for hazard cycles and save Double Jump for corrections.
- Timed run expires: ignore combat and follow only the blue flags.
- Hand Demon takes no damage: find and defeat the Rogue Demon adds.
- No rewards after the boss: complete the final conversation with The Sisters.
