Build several forms of progress together

Slayers 2 tracks character level, combat mastery, faction progress, and equipment separately. A good route moves at least two of them at once. Carry the weapon or style you want to master during quests, complete faction objectives near your current farm, and fight bosses when their drops fit your build.

Both factions share the early road through Windy Peak and Bamboo Grove. Use that time to unlock movement skills and learn combat. The routes split when Slayers prepare for Final Selection and Demons lower reputation for Muzan.

Phase one: build a functional character

Rarity can wait. Start with one usable weapon, enough stamina to escape, a dependable defensive response, and a short quest route.

Complete Krue’s Bandits and Zuko, buy a katana from Raze, and finish the local side quests. Then move to Tom’s Bears until the level 25 systems open. During this phase:

  • Unlock Double Jump and Wall Climb before specialist damage nodes.
  • Activate the shrine nearest your current farm.
  • Keep spins, Ore, and resets until you know the intended build.
  • Use the same weapon consistently enough to raise mastery.
  • Read the live quest requirement when different guides list nearby level gates.

Phase two: choose a combat identity

At level 25, a Slayer candidate can begin a Breathing trainer quest. A future Demon can keep using the shared route while preparing reputation and Muzan’s tasks. From here, some unlocks fit your route much better than others.

Pick a role:

Boss farmingSafe sustained damage and a punish toolSpending every cooldown at once
PvPPressure, guard answers, flexible timingOne predictable combo
ExplorationMobility, survivability, daylight planningA glass-cannon route with no escape

For a Slayer, choose a Breathing Style whose trainer route and material price you can complete. For a Demon, plan around one Blood Demon Art and one weapon line after transforming. A focused ordinary build progresses faster than an expensive collection of unrelated bonuses.

The Slayer progression route

The Slayer path centers on Breathing mastery, Final Selection, rank progression, and equipment crafted from Slayer rewards.

1. Train a Breathing Style

Reach level 25 and speak to the chosen trainer. Requirements differ by style, commonly using Wen, Demon Horns, Beast Cores, or a trainer-specific task. Confirm the dialogue, farm exactly what it requests, then use the style during normal leveling.

2. Reach Final Selection Readiness

Level 45 is the launch-period entry gate; level 60 is safer solo. Bring healing, movement upgrades, and several mastered Breathing moves. Arrive before the two-hour event countdown finishes.

3. Complete the Entire Trial Chain

The trial includes Rem’s fruit collection, Demon fights, a lost Nichirin Katana, an underwater cave and key, the parkour dungeon, timed or capture tasks, and the Hand Demon. Rogue Demon adds must be cleared when they protect the boss. Return to The Sisters after the fight so the game records the pass.

4. Equip the Kasugai Crow

The Crow provides Slayer bounty quests. Stack them with enemies on your current route rather than making separate trips. This turns faction work into extra progress instead of another isolated grind.

5. Raise Slayer Progress and Improve Gear

Butterfly Estate’s gourd loop can raise Slayer Progress for permanent stats. Blacksmith routes upgrade weapons or forge new katanas from materials such as Crude Iron Ingots. Spend here only after your core movement and combat setup are stable.

The Demon progression route

The Demon path replaces Final Selection with reputation work and Muzan’s questline.

1. Lower Reputation

Open Player Info and defeat the targets that actually reduce reputation: civilians and Slayers. Current launch guides place Muzan’s threshold at -40 reputation. Defeating other Demons does not advance this task.

2. Find Muzan at Night

Check the current map and sweep Mistfall Harbor, Hidden Mist Village, and Iceveil Valley at night. His Biwa Bell takes you to Muzan’s Lair, where the transformation quest begins.

3. Complete the Transformation Tasks

The route includes carrying Dr. Higoshima from the cliff area near the Thunder trainer and collecting nine Spider Lilies that appear at night. Movement upgrades make the doctor route far easier. After receiving Muzan’s Blood, drink it and confirm that Player Info shows Demon Progress.

4. Solve Daylight Immediately

Daylight can stop a Demon route completely. Get sun protection before planning long daytime farms. The launch route describes the Black Amigasa as an early purchasable answer, the Classic Straw Hat as a later chest reward, and Kamado as a clan-based option. Check current item descriptions before investing.

5. Build One Repeatable Rotation

Test an Evil Art on ordinary enemies. Learn its range, control, cooldown, and recovery, then connect it to a single weapon line. Keep one movement or defensive option unused until the enemy answers.

Advance level, mastery, and faction together

These three progress bars reward different behavior:

SystemHow it advancesEfficient pairing
Character levelEnemy and quest experienceRepeat quests close to current targets
Weapon/style masteryUsing the relevant combat optionFinish quest enemies with the active build
Slayer/Demon progressFaction-specific actions and trainingStack with bounties, human targets, or nearby farms

Check the Player Info screen regularly. If character levels rise but your moves remain locked, use the intended weapon or style more often. If your damage is fine but later faction quests remain closed, work on the appropriate Slayer or Demon progression rather than grinding unrelated mobs.

Give every boss run a purpose

A boss run makes sense when it earns a weapon upgrade, required drop, mastery gain, or quest objective. Long spawn timers and repeated deaths usually lose to steady quest experience.

Before committing to a boss loop, ask:

  1. Does the boss drop an item used by my active build?
  2. Can I clear it reliably without consuming all recovery items?
  3. Is there a quest or bounty I can stack with the kill?
  4. Can I farm nearby enemies during the respawn?
  5. Would the same time produce more levels or mastery elsewhere?

If three answers are no, return later. An attempted rare encounter does not help much if your character leaves with no useful progress.

Resource priorities that survive patches

Exact prices and balance rankings change, but the spending order remains useful:

PrioritySpend onDelay
1Required access, movement, and a basic weaponCosmetics and speculative rerolls
2Your chosen trainer or transformation routeMaterials for styles you will not use
3Survivability that fixes real failuresPure damage when you cannot stay alive
4Build-specific weapon and mastery upgradesMultiple unfinished weapon lines
5Targeted rerolls or resetsRolling without a named goal

Ore can substitute for certain premium purchases, which makes it more useful as a reserve than as impulse currency. Codes may provide spins or resets, but use them after identifying the desired result.

Your next step at each milestone

  • At spawn: finish all useful Windy Peak quests and buy a katana.
  • At level 10: follow Lucy to Tom and set the nearby shrine.
  • At level 25: select a Breathing trainer or begin concrete Demon preparation.
  • At level 40: use Wagwan’s route and finish movement or mastery gaps.
  • At level 45 to 60: pass Final Selection or complete Muzan’s transformation.
  • After faction entry: stack faction objectives with leveling and mastery.
  • At late game: farm bosses, ranks, titles, or equipment only when each supports the active build.

Mistakes that stall progression

  • Splitting mastery across every weapon that drops.
  • Rerolling before learning the current clan or Evil Art.
  • Skipping quest chains because the character is already above their level.
  • Treating Final Selection’s boss kill as completion without returning to The Sisters.
  • Becoming a Demon without a daylight plan.
  • Farming a prestigious boss more slowly than an ordinary quest loop.

FAQ

What is the main Slayers 2 progression loop?

Complete nearby quests, use your chosen weapon or style for mastery, advance faction objectives, then spend rewards on the same focused build.

When do Slayer and Demon routes split?

Both share the opening levels. Slayers prepare for Breathing and Final Selection, while Demons lower reputation and complete Muzan’s night-time transformation quest.

Does character level unlock every move?

No. Character level, combat mastery, and faction progress are separate. Use the relevant style or weapon to unlock its mastery-based moves.

Should I farm bosses as soon as I find them?

Only when you can clear them reliably and need their quest credit or drop. Repeatable quests are usually better while a boss causes frequent defeats or long waits.

What should I save for later?

Preserve spins, Ore, resets, and rare materials until you have chosen a faction, style or Evil Art, and weapon direction.
