Start with the basic quest route

For your first session, clear the useful quests in Windy Peak, repeat Krue’s Bandit job until Zuko unlocks, buy a basic katana, then follow Lucy toward Tom’s bear quests. Keep your clan spins and Ore for later, once you know what your build needs. Focus on opening a dependable quest loop and buying the movement skills needed for your chosen faction.

Slayers 2 puts several menus and long-term systems in front of you right away, so spending too early is an easy mistake. A plain clan and cheap weapon will carry the opening quests. Wasted spins and misplaced skill points are harder to fix.

This route reflects the live September 2026 launch period. If a level gate differs, trust the quest option shown by the current server.

Set Up Your Character Without Wasting Resources

Customize your character however you like, but treat clan rolls as a limited progression resource. Clans have rarity tiers and can add passives or skills, yet you do not need a top rarity to beat Bandits, Bears, or the opening bosses. Stop on a usable result and learn what it does before rolling again.

Open the main menu as soon as you spawn and locate four screens:

  • Map: shows area, boss, shrine, quest, and recommended-objective markers when their toggles are enabled.
  • Skill Tree: contains health, stamina, block, movement, weapon, clan, and later style branches.
  • Inventory: separates functional equipment from vanity appearance.
  • Player Info / Progression: tracks your faction progress and longer-term milestones.

Set a nearby shrine as your spawn whenever you move to a new farming area. It saves far more time than a small early damage upgrade.

Follow the Windy Peak Quest Chain

Talk to Krue near spawn and repeat the quest to defeat three Bandits. Use these first fights to learn a conservative loop: block the incoming string, step or dash out, then answer with a short attack string. Do not hold forward and trade hits. Getting stunned inside a group is the fastest way to turn an easy quest into a long run back.

Your first route should look like this:

StageMain actionWhy it matters
Opening levelsRepeat Krue’s three-Bandit questSafe experience, Wen, and combat practice
Level 7 rangeAdd the Zuko mini-boss questBoss chest and a chance at the Cutlass
Windy Peak cleanupComplete Kona, Kazu, Lucy, and nearby side questsUnlocks later directions and prevents a quest-chain block
First weaponBuy Raze’s Regular KatanaFaster, safer clears than fists
Next regionFollow Lucy to Tom and Bamboo GroveBegins the Bear quest loop

Raze’s launch shop lists a Regular Katana for 500 Wen and a Fancy Katana for 1,500 Wen. The cheap katana is enough. Buying it early improves every fight that follows, so do not delay the upgrade just to hoard a small amount of currency.

Kona’s lost-page task gives you the Book of Guidance, which points toward progression objectives. Finish Kazu’s delivery chain and the other local errands too. Some later steps still depend on those early conversations even when your level is high enough.

Move to Bamboo Grove and Reach Level 25

Tom runs the next dependable loop. His Bear Cub quest opens before the Mother Bear quest, and both are close enough to rotate without wasting travel time. The first Bear task has appeared at level 10 or 13 across launch servers, so use Tom’s live dialogue as the deciding check. Mother Bear appears as the next milestone around level 18.

The efficient loop is:

  1. Take the available quest from Tom.
  2. Defeat Bear Cubs while the Mother Bear is unavailable.
  3. Take the Mother Bear quest as soon as your server unlocks it.
  4. Turn in both objectives before wandering elsewhere.
  5. Repeat until level 25, collecting Wen and learning boss recovery windows.

Avoid pulling the entire area. Fight one target where possible, keep the camera on the Mother Bear during its committed attacks, and leave enough stamina to dash away. A clean clear is faster than a risky attempt followed by a respawn.

Spend Skill Points on Movement and Survival

Buy Double Jump and Wall Climb before sinking points into specialized damage branches. Both skills are needed on trainer routes and during Final Selection parkour. Extra damage cannot get you over a cliff.

After movement, spend against the problem you actually have:

ProblemBetter early investment
You die inside enemy stringsHealth, health regeneration, or block points
You cannot finish or escape a comboStamina and stamina regeneration
Travel routes stop at cliffsWall Climb and Double Jump
Your basic fights are safe but slowWeapon-related damage or mastery support

Character level and mastery are separate. Leveling unlocks access and skill points, while mastery grows by using the relevant weapon or style. Equip the tool you plan to keep and use it during normal questing instead of postponing mastery until the endgame.

Choose Slayer or Demon Deliberately

The two paths change more than your appearance.

PathCore systemBest forMain preparation
SlayerBreathing Styles and weaponsStructured melee, trainer routes, Slayer ranksReach level 25, pick a style, then prepare for Final Selection
DemonBlood Demon Arts and Demon weaponsAbility pressure, control, and aggressive routesLower reputation, find Muzan at night, complete his transformation quest

Choose Slayer for trainer-based Breathing progression and the Slayer Corps questline. Choose Demon for Blood Demon Arts, provided you are ready to deal with daylight after transforming. Becoming a Demon does not offer an easy shortcut around Final Selection. Muzan’s route has a separate set of travel and collection tasks.

Unlock Your First Breathing Style

Breathing trainer quests become available at level 25. Trainers have different locations and material requests, so choose a style before farming. Expect Wen plus Demon Horns or Beast Cores, but exact totals can differ by style and patch. Read the trainer’s current dialogue before beginning a long material grind.

Demon Horns come from demons, with the cave below the Mother Bear area offering a dense early cluster. Beast Demons appear at night, so a Beast Core farm should be scheduled around the server’s day-night cycle. If daylight begins, return to quests rather than searching an empty route.

Once a trainer grants your style, equip and use it while leveling. More techniques require mastery, not just character levels. Two or three dependable moves are more useful for Final Selection than an unlocked style you never practiced.

Prepare for Final Selection

Final Selection is a Slayer-only progression gate. The September 2026 entry prompt starts at level 45, but most solo players will have a much easier run at level 60. The event runs on a two-hour cycle, so reach the gate before the countdown ends. Bring recovery items, unlock Double Jump and Wall Climb, and practice your Breathing moves first.

Inside, the chain includes collecting fruit for Rem, recovering a Nichirin Katana, clearing an underwater cave, using a key to enter the parkour dungeon, completing timed or capture objectives, and fighting the Hand Demon. The boss can summon Rogue Demons; clear those adds because the Hand Demon becomes unavailable while they remain active.

Do not leave immediately after the boss. Return to The Sisters to complete the final turn-in. Your rank, Slayer Uniform, Kasugai Crow, and other completion rewards appear only after the chain is properly closed.

First-Session Mistakes to Avoid

  • Rolling until your spins are gone: an ordinary clan is enough for the opening route.
  • Skipping local quests: some errands connect to later regions or progression NPCs.
  • Buying damage before movement: Final Selection and trainer travel punish that choice.
  • Fighting several enemies at once: isolate targets until you have reliable area tools.
  • Unlocking a style without using it: mastery only grows through actual use.
  • Entering Final Selection at the first possible level: level 60, healing, and a practiced style make a solo run far safer.

From here, open the leveling guide for the ordered level route. The Slayer guide covers the post-exam loop, while the Demon guide follows Muzan’s transformation path.

FAQ

What should I do first in Slayers 2?

Take Krue’s three-Bandit quest in Windy Peak, practice blocking and dashing, complete the nearby side quests, and save enough Wen for Raze’s basic katana.

When can I get a Breathing Style?

Breathing trainer questlines open at level 25 in the current launch route. Check the chosen trainer’s live dialogue for its Wen and material requirements.

Should I reroll my clan at the start?

Only if your current result is unusable and you can preserve a reserve. A common or uncommon clan does not prevent you from completing the early quests.

What level should I be for Final Selection?

The September 2026 entry point is level 45, while level 60 is a more comfortable solo target. Confirm the current gate on your server.

Is Slayer or Demon better for beginners?

Slayer offers a structured Breathing and Final Selection route. Demon offers Blood Demon Arts but adds a transformation quest and daylight risk. Pick the combat loop you want to learn.
