Unlock Wind Breathing

Reach level 25, buy the main movement skills, and find Wind Trainer Saneri on an ice platform in the snow region. Wind costs 50 Demon Horns in the September 2026 build, the highest horn cost among the eight styles. Check Saneri’s current prompt before starting such a long farm.

Follow the path from the bear area into Iceveil Valley. When the route reaches frozen water, descend toward the ice platform near the waterfall ledge. Saneri is lower than the Sound trainer, so you do not need to make the highest cliff climb. Bring a lantern and enough health because the cold still damages unprepared players.

High Demons in Iceveil award more horns than basic subordinates, letting you combine the material farm with learning the snow route. Avoid fighting several enemies in open snow while cold damage continues. Pull one target to a safer edge, defeat it, and move on.

After paying Saneri, complete the marked training tasks and beat the Wind Trainee. Press M, purchase the first Wind node, and raise mastery by using Wind skills. Finding the trainer does not equip the full moveset.

Wind moveset

Wind’s five techniques include several alternate behaviors. Distance and input determine what a hotbar slot does.

TechniqueVariant and role
Mountain WindUpward slash that launches both fighters, then slams down
Purifying ClawsFour vertical slashes, ending with an overhead reposition
Rising Dust StormTraveling cyclone at range or a larger close cyclone
Whirlwind CutterTap for aerial stun; hold for a spinning cyclone and launcher
Idaten TyphoonDistance-sensitive finisher with a close cinematic form

Mountain Wind is the simple launcher. Purifying Claws extends the aerial state and places you above the opponent for its final hit. Learn those two before adding cyclones, or you will often push the target outside your next attack.

Rising Dust Storm travels toward your aim point at range and forms around you at close distance. Tapping Whirlwind Cutter gives a quick aerial ender. Holding it commits to a longer spin and stronger launch. Decide which form you want before pressing the input.

PvP spacing

Wind makes opponents guess which version is coming. Control mid-range with the traveling cyclone, then close only after it connects. Opening every exchange with a held spin makes the slow start-up easy to read.

Confirm a basic hit before Mountain Wind, continue with Purifying Claws while the target is airborne, then choose whether Whirlwind Cutter ends the sequence or launches into more pressure. Save a dash for the reset. A missed cyclone leaves plenty of time for a full punish.

PvE control

Wind feels awkward while farming if every large attack scatters enemies. Gather the pack against terrain, use close Rising Dust Storm so repeated hits remain centered, and leave knockback for the end. Displacement then finishes the rotation instead of creating more walking.

Against a boss, the ranged variant can test a recovery window without putting you in immediate danger. Move closer if the traveling cyclone connects. If it misses, stay at range and reset instead of forcing another attack.

Practice the variants

Use one normal enemy for this routine:

  1. Cast Rising Dust Storm once from far range and once up close.
  2. Tap Whirlwind Cutter five times without holding it.
  3. Hold it five times and watch the longer recovery.
  4. Launch with Mountain Wind and connect Purifying Claws.
  5. End the sequence while keeping your dash available.

After every input feels deliberate, repeat the routine against a moving boss and then a player. Wind’s strength comes from choosing the correct variant, not from spending every cooldown in order.

Stay safe in Iceveil

Enter the snow at full health, equip your lantern, and keep the frozen-water landmark in view. Sprinting without a route can leave you below the correct cliff with empty stamina while cold damage continues.

Move in short sections. Dash across exposed ground, pause on safer ledges, and refill stamina before climbing. If you reach Sound’s high route, descend toward the ice. Set a nearby spawn before starting training or fighting the trainee.

With a fifty-horn bill, an unnecessary return trip hurts. Write down everything in Saneri’s prompt and choose a farm you can clear consistently. A safe cave loop can beat a higher-yield enemy if the stronger target kills you or forces long recovery breaks.

Variant decisions

Distance or statePreferred Wind actionReason
Target far awayRanged Rising Dust StormTests movement without close commitment
Target beside youClose Rising Dust StormKeeps repeated hits centered
Target airborneTap Whirlwind CutterQuick stun and clean ender
Confirmed ground pressureHold Whirlwind CutterLonger cyclone is harder to escape
Clear launch windowMountain WindStarts the aerial route
Opponent expects rangeClose carefully and switch variantBreaks the repeated spacing pattern

Terrain can change these choices. A wall can keep a tapped ender from sending the target too far, while a ranged cyclone can still work nearby if the angle is right. Check the space before committing.

Matchups and recovery

Fast styles such as Thunder can enter during Wind’s start-up. Do not begin a held cyclone while the opponent has every movement option ready. Force a dodge at range, block the return, then use the longer move during recovery.

Against Stone’s armor, avoid trading slow animations directly. Keep moving and use the traveling cyclone until its armor or counter window ends. Against another ranged player, change your elevation with Mountain Wind instead of staying on one line.

After a Wind move misses, leave. Spending the next skill to prove it can land usually makes the punish worse. Saving one dash lets you return to the range where Wind’s variants are useful.

FAQ
